Guide
If MICA is a serious target, taking both MICAT I and MICAT II can be rational because the current selection process considers the better of the two MICAT scores. But the second attempt should not become an excuse to treat MICAT I as a casual trial.
Why MICAT I matters
The first attempt gives you real information about pacing, psychometric comfort, descriptive execution and the aptitude mix. Prepare seriously enough that it can already be your usable score. After the test, write down where the paper felt unfamiliar before memory fades.
When MICAT II adds value
Take the second attempt when MICA remains a priority and you have a concrete improvement path: descriptive responses lacked structure, divergent-thinking exposure was low, or one aptitude area repeatedly missed the required standard. The gap between attempts should be used to fix those specific issues, not to restart the entire syllabus.
What cannot be ‘gamed’ easily
Psychometric is qualifying; trying to invent a personality you think MICA wants can create inconsistent responses. Use the second attempt to become calmer and more familiar with the format, not to manufacture a different persona.
Decision rule
If you would genuinely join MICA, the cost/time of a second MICAT is usually easier to justify than for a random backup exam. If MICA is low on your preference list and the second test conflicts with interviews or a stronger admission route, protect the higher-value task.
Treat MICAT I and II as two chances to demonstrate the same fit more cleanly, not two completely different preparation cycles.
Put this rule into one measurable experiment
In your next MICAT mock, change only one behaviour connected to micat i vs micat ii: should you take both?. Decide the rule before the timer starts, then record its effect on attempts, accuracy, questions unseen and time lost. CAT/XAT/GMAT is mandatory in addition to MICAT. Psychometric is a qualifier; MICAT aptitude and descriptive sections have cutoffs; selection continues to GE/PI.
If the experiment improves score but creates a new section collapse, it is not yet a usable strategy. Repeat it once on a different paper before locking it. Exam strategy should survive a harder set or unfamiliar question mix; otherwise it is only a lucky mock pattern.

Why On Your Mocks?
A mock score tells you what happened. OYM helps you understand what went wrong and what to work on next.
