Guide
XAT's official FAQ says the XAT 2027 result is expected roughly three weeks after the 3 January exam. Until XLRI posts the exact result notice, treat any fixed third-party date as provisional.
What the scorecard means
XAT reports the performance that institutes use for shortlisting; the overall percentile is driven by the scored Part-1 areas, while GK has a different role and can be considered by XLRI during selection. Do not read only the overall percentile—look at the section performance because programmes can use sectional criteria.
First hour after the result
Save the scorecard PDF, record overall/section percentiles, and compare them with the latest *programme-specific* shortlist criteria. Then check separate institute applications. A strong XAT score does not automatically apply you to every XAT-accepting B-school.
Do not overreact to one cutoff article
XLRI BM/HR and other XAT colleges can differ by programme, profile/category and cycle. Use the official shortlist/admission notice when released; coaching cutoff estimates are useful only for planning.
If your score is below one target, immediately map alternatives within the same XAT ecosystem rather than writing off the entire exam. The value of the result is in the college decisions it changes, not the percentile number alone.
Turn the date into a preparation deadline
The current planning fact is: Registration opens 15 July 2026, closes 6 December 2026; admit card is tentatively from 20 December; exam is 3 January 2027, 2–5 PM. Work backwards from the official test/administrative date: keep the last 5–7 days for strategy stabilisation and light revision, the prior two weeks for full mocks and targeted repair, and complete major concept work before that.
Also create a separate `college application` row in your calendar. Exam registration, institute application, score submission and counselling/interview stages are different actions; missing one can make a valid score useless.
The exam-specific reason this matters
Only major Indian MBA exam with a dedicated Decision Making section; no sectional time limits; sections can be switched; on-screen scientific calculator; GK does not drive overall percentile but matters to XLRI final selection. That is why the advice on this page should be tested in the XAT format itself, not inferred from CAT performance. Record the result in one sentence after your next timed attempt: what did you change, how many marks/questions did it affect, and will you repeat it?

Why On Your Mocks?
A mock score tells you what happened. OYM helps you understand what went wrong and what to work on next.
